About Us

Since 1920, The League of Women Voters has earned a reputation as a highly respected national citizens organization that researches issues from many pointes of view and educates the public and decision makers. We're comprised of men and women who want to make a difference in our communities, our country and our world.

  • the League is nonpartisan; we do not support or oppose candidates.
  • we do support issues and legislation, after member study and agreement.
  • we mobilize people to vote and to have a say in the complex decisions that affect us all.
  • membership is open to all citizens of voting age. Associate membership is available for young people and non-citizens.
The League of Women Voters of the Holland Area, in both its values and practices, affirms its belief and commitment to diversity and pluralism. The LWV-HA recognizes that diverse perspectives are important and necessary for responsible and representative decision making, and subscribes to the belief that diversity and pluralism are fundamental to the values it upholds.

Inclusiveness enhances the organization’s ability to respond more effectively to changing conditions and needs, and therefore the LWV-HA will, both in principles and practices, promote the inclusion in participation in any activity of the LWV-HA of all persons, whatever their gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or ability.
