Amsterdam Art and Culture
The city of Amsterdam is an old city that has embraced the new cosmopolitan flair of Europe. The seat of government is in The Hague, but Amsterdam is also thought of as the capital and it is the home of The Netherlands’ royal family. The Dutch are also a cultured people who enjoy the finer things in life when it comes to the arts.
Amsterdam is a city of less than one million residents but has over 50 theatres and movie houses, two ballet troupes, a symphony orchestra, and numerous museums.

Holland Culture
Holland’s culture is varied and lively. Dutch people themselves take immense delight in their cultural heritage. Arts of every form flourish in Holland. When it comes to culture, the country is possibly most renowned for its painters who were amongst the greatest in the world. Holland’s cultural life attained an international reputation during the 17th century, which is often referred to as the country’s Golden Age. Well-known figures of the Golden Age include the great 17th-century Dutch artists Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, and Jan Steen. The 19th and 20th centuries witnessed the emergence of artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Pieter Cornelis Mondrian.
Holland has exceptional museums and a remarkable variety of classical and innovative music and theatre. With almost 1,000 museums, the Netherlands has the highest museum density in the world. Some of the most famous are the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Mauritshuis in The Hague. The Het Loo palace in Apeldoorn is of significance to those interested in architecture, gardening and history.

Amsterdam is a Place You MUST Visit at Least Once in Your Life
Amsterdam is one of the world’s most colorful cities surrounded by interesting places -the museums, the historical sights, pubs, shops and beautiful flowers. Though it is a small city it has everything that you would find in big cities from good transportation to good restaurants and the culture but at the same time it offers the calmness and the peacefulness you would get in small countryside. It offers the best of both worlds. Though it is officially designated the capital of Netherlands but is neither the capital of its province, North Holland, nor is it the seat of the government and parliament.
Weather:
The weather in Amsterdam is moderately temperate and is strongly influenced by Atlantic Ocean to the west and the prevailing westerly winds. Winters are bearable and are above freezing though frosts are common. Summers are also pleasant. Cloudy and damp days are common, particularly in the cooler months.
